Davos-Platz
(Switzerland), English Church
Shortly after the completion and consecration of the English Church in 1882 plans were made to equip it with an organ. By means of an appeal for funds in the Times and through other concerted private fund raising attempts enough money was collected to purchase a new organ in April of 1892 from the well-known organ building company Willis and Sons in London. Although Willis and Sons were active in developing tubular and electro-pneumatic actions the instrument was mainly built in classical style. The organ has slider chests for the two manual divisions with mechanical actions. Only the low pipes of the 8 Open Diapason, the 16 Lieblich Bourdon, the 8 Viola da Gamba, the front pipes, and the two pedal stops, 16 Bourdon, and the 8 Lieblich Gedackt, are positioned on pneumatic wind chests.
