The Student's Chapel Organ

The three organs in the collegiate church were complemented by a new instrument in the “Students’ Chapel” (Studentenkapelle) which was constructed in the years 1676 to1678. The chapel was originally used mainly as a large vestry; now it serves as a room for church services of the public school, the boarding school, and the parish as well as for weddings and palmer meditations. The original instrument dating from 1904, just as the former high pressure organ in the monastery church, was built based on the principles of the fashionable electric orchestral organs of the time and therefore underwent a major modification in 1943. The new Mathis organ in the restored case with 13 stops, two manuals and pedal is used both to accompany the liturgy and by the monastery organists for practicing and teaching.
